Winners of the Royal Philharmonic Society award for Young British String Players in 2015, the Ruisi Quartet is a gem of its generation. Founded in 2012 by brothers Alessandro and Max, the quartet performs regularly throughout the UK and Europe, including at venues such as Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall and Kings Place. A cornerstone of the classical period, Haydn’s infl uence can be found in many works of the three musical giants of the time: Beethoven, Mozart and Schubert. Featuring a quartet by each of them, Mozart’s Dissonance, Beethoven’s Op 18 No 1 and Schubert’s Quartettsatz, as well as Haydn’s Op 50 No 1, this programme, presented chronologically, is a rare opportunity to hear the musical thread running through these masterpieces.
